1. Purpose and limitations

PanelLoad is an Inspect Canada preliminary electrical screening and documentation tool. It is not a substitute for a licensed electrical contractor, an engineering design, a permit, code approval or a physical electrical evaluation. Do not use pilot results to authorize electrical work or conclude that a property is safe.

2. Your responsibilities

Provide accurate information, review photo readings and assumptions, and obtain professional verification where needed. Only upload information you have authority to use. Do not open energized equipment or perform electrical work merely to complete an assessment. You are responsible for the recipients you choose when sharing reports.

3. Estimates and external information

Appliance allowances, property records, inferred connections and extracted specifications may be incomplete or incorrect. Calculated demand is not measured consumption. Directory businesses are independent providers; confirm their qualifications, availability and work directly. Paid directory placement is identified where supplied.

4. Warranty and responsibility

To the extent permitted by applicable law, PanelLoad is provided as available without a guarantee of accuracy, completeness or fitness for a particular purpose. Inspect Canada does not assume responsibility for electrical designs, installations, alterations or third-party work based on unverified screening results. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, waives non-waivable consumer rights, or prevents you from seeking remedies available under applicable law.

5. Saved information and privacy

We store your sign-in identifier, terms version and acceptance date, assessment details, photos and report snapshots to provide the service. Accounts, password hashes, assessment records and photos are stored on Inspect Canada’s hosting server. Your password is never stored in plain text. Email sign-in codes are stored as keyed hashes and expire after 10 minutes. Sign-in cookies renew with use and may last up to a year without activity; signing out revokes the current session. Address suggestions send the typed address to the Province of British Columbia’s Address Geocoder. When you select Read dataplate, the selected photo is sent to Anthropic for automated transcription. Review its output before applying it. Manufacture-date decoding uses Inspect Canada’s serial rules and can return ambiguous or unknown dates. The trade lookup sends the selected city and electrical category to the Inspect Canada directory; it does not send your property photos or client details.

6. Sharing and retention

Report links contain a random access token, expire after 30 days and can be revoked. Anyone holding a report link can view that report without signing in. Anyone who receives an authorized link may retain a downloaded or printed copy; revocation cannot recall those copies. Reports preserve the saved version rather than silently following later edits. Records remain until removed through an administrative request during this pilot; do not upload unnecessary personal information.

7. Changes and contact
